Charlotte Arthur
RSPCA senior scientific and policy officer for poultry

Dr Charlotte Arthur is a senior scientific and policy officer for poultry in the RSPCA’s farm animals department, where she supports the development of evidence-based welfare standards used by RSPCA Assured members and contributes to policy and industry discussions on poultry welfare.
Charlotte has a strong background in poultry science, combining research with practical experience to inform welfare improvements.
She completed a PhD in poultry science at Harper Adams University in 2023, where her research focused on the role of myo-inositol in poultry production - understanding the compound's role in poultry nutrition and poultry health.
She also holds a research master’s degree in biosciences and a first-class degree in biochemistry from Aberystwyth University.
Before joining the RSPCA, Charlotte worked at Harper Adams University in poultry-focused roles, including deputy sector manager (poultry), where she supported research delivery and the application of scientific findings within commercial and academic settings.
Her work focuses on translating scientific evidence into practical, policy-relevant outcomes, supporting the development of robust welfare standards and contributing to discussions with industry and other stakeholders on improving poultry welfare.
