Our expert assessors check more than 4,000 farms and businesses to ensure they’ve met an average of 760 different standards, all designed to improve the lives of farmed animals.

The RSPCA’s welfare standards cover every aspect of the animals’ lives. Hens live free of cages. Chickens have straw bales to peck at. Pigs sleep on comfortable bedding. Salmon and trout swim in good-quality water.
